An open house is a low-pressure way to see what is out there. A little preparation helps you get the most out of every visit.
Before you go
Make a short list of your must-haves.
Review the listing photos and note questions.
Bring a notebook or use your phone to take notes.
What to look for
Layout and flow: does it work for your daily life?
Natural light and room sizes.
Signs of water damage, cracks, or uneven floors.
Age of the roof, HVAC and water heater.
Noise, traffic and the feel of the street.
Questions to ask
How long has it been on the market?
Has the price changed?
What is included in the sale?
What are the typical utility costs?
Take photos and notes
After three or four homes, they blur together. Write down what you liked and did not like right away.
Walk the neighborhood
Step outside and look around. Is there somewhere you would walk, play or shop?
Have an agent with you
If you like a home, I can set up a private showing and help you decide quickly. Ready to start touring? Reach out any time.
